Ahead of the PSA Squash World Championships beginning in Chicago, we are sharing some information on the group of officials appointed to the event! Due to unforeseen circumstances, Leo Arozena has withdrawn from the event and been replaced by Darrin Manley.
Jason Foster
Jason has been refereeing for over 25 years having previously played the game professionally. He has represented England and won the British Police Squash Championships 10 times. Jason has officiated at major events around the world including the World Championships and British Open.
In 2024, Jason became the third Professional Referee after retiring from the Police. He is looking forward to being involved at the World Championships in Chicago this year and especially taking in the venue at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Centre!

Roy Gingell
Roy is a well-known figure within professional squash, operating as an official at the highest level for the past 25 years and considered as one of the very best referees in the world. He started refereeing in Wales in 1980 before joining the WSF list of referees in 2000. In those 25 years, Roy has refereed over 70 major finals around the world, ranging from the Commonwealth Games to the British Open.
Throughout the 2024/25 PSA Squash Tour season, Roy has travelled around the world, refereeing and delivering his expertise to referees in Singapore, Hong Kong, the USA and Egypt amongst others.
The previous WSF Director of Refereeing and the one of the first two Professional Referees, Roy currently also serves as WSO Development Lead, working with referees and federations globally to standardise squash officiating.

Andrea Santamaria
Andrea began refereeing in 2013 at local junior and masters’ events before progressing to National and European competitions as an England Squash referee. In 2019, Andrea attended her first PSA Squash Tour event in Egypt, attending for three days and refereeing early round-matches on the iconic glass court set in front of the Pyramids of Giza, an unforgettable experience that she felt privileged to be rewarded with. In 2023, Andrea was appointed as one of the first two professional squash referees. The 2024/25 season has seen Andrea officiate at some of the top events on the PSA Squash Tour, including Paris Squash, the US Open, the Hong Kong Open and a three-week leg of events across the US.
Andrea takes pride in maintaining high standards of impartiality, communication, and match control. Officiating has taught her resilience, quick decision-making, and the importance of clarity and collaboration with fellow referees and players alike. She is looking forward to further opportunities to contribute to the sport at the highest level. With the World Championships coming up, Andrea hopes to contribute to making it an amazing event, one that showcases the incredible skill, passion, and athleticism of the world-class players in our fantastic sport of squash.

Glenn Carson
Glenn started refereeing in 2010, as a way to stay involved in the sport at a high level after playing at District Representative level in New Zealand for 20 years. After attending the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and being appointed as a WSF referee in 2015, Glenn has been fortunate to attend a number of Gold and Platinum PSA events, the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games as well as PSA World Championships in 2017 and 2024.
Glenn is looking forward to this year’s PSA World Championship in Chicago as his first event in the USA, and it is an opportunity for him to continue his development as a referee at the highest level.

Tammer AlNaggary
Tammer began refereeing in Egypt in 1997, overseeing local club tournaments, national championships and the illustrious Al Ahram International in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. After relocating to the US in 2004 to continue his career, Tammer began refereeing at major events in addition to holding the role of Tournament Referee at many US Squash events. On the PSA Squash Tour, Tammer has officiated at multiple Tournament of Champions over the past 21 seasons, as well as experience refereeing finals at the World Championships, U.S. Open, Windy City Open and Squash Tour Finals.
Tammer also has extensive experience at World Squash events, officiating the Men’s and Women’s World Teams Championships, the World Junior Championships and the Pan American Games as well as overseeing the Women’s World Teams Championships as Tournament Referee in 2022.
Tammer holds a current mentorship role within the US Squash officiating program and reminds referees to be honest and accept failures as part of the learning process, using them as evidence to improve and enhance skills.

Daniel Greco
Daniel began refereeing in Venezuela in 2005 as a means to access squash courts in private clubs as a student. He started refereeing for the Pan American Squash Federation in 2010, officiating at major events such as the Pan American Games, Central American Games and the World Games.
Daniel began refereeing on the PSA Squash Tour in 2017 and has refereed at all levels of the Tour, notably overseeing the Women’s final between Nouran Gohar and Hania El Hammamy at the JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2025 and the Women’s final between Nour El Sherbini and Nouran Gohar at the Comcast Business U.S. Open Championship 2024. He has also officiated at major World Squash events including the World Team Championships, World Masters Championships and took the role of Championship Referee at the 2024 World Junior Championships.

Curtis Gillespie
Curtis has been refereeing (and playing) squash for decades and has been active as a referee on the PSA Squash Tour for the last ten years. With extensive experience on the Tour, Curtis has officiated at numerous high-profile events, including the PSA World Championships, Tournament of Champions and Windy City Opens. Throughout the 2024/25 season, Curtis has officiated at all levels of World Event, notably the US Open, Tournament of Champions and Texas Open. Curtis also sits as Chair of the Squash Canada Singles Officiating Committee, leading on the advancement of high-quality squash officiating in Canada.
Curtis always enjoys helping to create an environment for the world’s best athletes to show their skill.

Sofia Navadeh
Sofia began her international refereeing career in 2014. Since relocating to Canada, she has been rewarded with numerous opportunities including overseeing the Canadian Junior Closed Championships as Tournament Referee. As a member of the Pan American Officiating Committee, Sofia dedicates her time to the identification and development of referees in the Pan America region.
Sofia’s debut season on the PSA Squash Tour has seen her officiate at Copper, Bronze, Silver and Platinum World Events, with the Tournament of Champions being a personal highlight, before attending this season’s PSA World Championships. Sofia’s focus is to officiate the final of a PSA Squash Tour World Event and having the privilege of calling “Championship Ball”, something she strives towards at every event. Sofia achieved this for the first time at the recent Richmond Open!
Longer term, Sofia’s dream has long been to be part of the Olympic Games as a referee, and this remains one of her biggest ambitions.

Darrin Manley
Darrin (centre left) has played squash for most of his life and coached his two sons through their junior squash careers. Looking for a way to stay connected and give back to the squash community after his sons moved on to Collegiate squash, Darrin took up officiating. His first experience on the PSA Squash Tour was at the 2022 US Open. After the event, Darrin’s passion for officiating continued to grow as he was invited to many more PSA events including his first PSA World Championships in 2023.
Throughout the 24/25 PSA Squash Tour season, Darrin has notably officiated at the US Open, Tournament of Champions and Squash on Fire Open amongst others.
Outside of officiating, Darrin coaches the University of Guelph Varsity Squash team. As he continues his journey with WSO, his ultimate goal is to officiate in front of the Egyptian pyramids.
