World Squash Officiating and DSQV Announce Partnership to Advance Officiating Standards

World Squash Officiating (WSO) and the German Squash Federation (DSQV) are pleased to announce a partnership agreement, aimed at enhancing the quality, consistency, and development of squash officiating in Germany.

Agreed at the Finals of the Sportwerk Open in Hamburg, this collaboration brings together WSO’s globally recognised expertise in referee education, certification, and performance standards with DSQV’s strong national infrastructure and commitment to developing referees in their nation. This will see the German federation take their first steps in officially adopting the WSO methodology and framework for referee development, while aligning with the WSO officiating pathway which is endorsed globally by World Squash and the Professional Squash Association (PSA).

By integrating the WSO methodology, DSQV will streamline training, certification, and appraisals for referees, while facilitating knowledge sharing and ongoing professional development within their officiating structures.

“We are delighted to partner with DSQV,” said Oliver Walker, WSO Senior Executive. “Germany has a strong background in officiating development, and this agreement reflects our shared commitment to deliver impactful education and elevate officiating standards.”

Michael Gade, President of DSQV, added, “We are very pleased to begin this partnership with WSO. The development of high-quality officiating is an important priority for us in Germany, and we believe this cooperation will create valuable opportunities for education, growth, and long-term improvement. Together, we want to support referees at all levels and continue strengthening officiating standards for the future.”

The partnership will begin with the official recognition of WSO Levels 2 and 3 as the standard of high-level officiating within the nation, while Levels 0 and 1 will follow in Summer 2027.
