Appraisals
WSO appraisals are the ideal solution to meet your appraising needs. Our appraisals are the officially recognised standard in officiating and are required to pass your refereeing levels. They use the same template and competencies as the online counterpart. WSO fully recognises completed and signed-off appraisals as part of your practical work. In addition, face-to-face appraisals allow the appraiser to fully understand the atmosphere and environment of each match while being able to provide face-to-face feedback on the same day as the event.
How do face-to-face appraisals work? A WSO appraiser visits an event to conduct live appraisals of matches. At an appropriate time after the match, the appraiser offers feedback from the appraisal to each candidate. Appraisers can appraise multiple referees throughout the day.
When should we book an appraiser? A WSO appraiser is best utilised for events that have multiple matches in a day or over several days. Appraisals work well when carried out at the conclusion of a face-to-face WSO training course (see below).

Workshops and Courses
If you have a conference, a squad, an event, or are an aspiring individual and want to strive for improved performance through enhanced knowledge and understanding of squash using the rules, then face-to-face workshops, 1-1 sessions, and courses are perfect. They offer the same adaptability and value as described in the online section of this product menu. WSO designs workshops and courses specifically to cater for the needs of the attendees, including Referees, Appraisers, Coaches, Players, and Parents. A major benefit of face-to-face workshops or courses is that they can offer a practical element to the sessions.
How do face-to-face training workshops and courses work? A WSO tutor visits your location and delivers the relevant coursework to the cohort of referees, coaches, or players. Face-to-face courses are personable and allow for practical work to complement match assessments and the theory contained within the WSO courses.
Course Duration: The number of days required can be adapted to fit with any delivery situation, and to suit the needs/level of the cohort.
1:1 Mentoring/Coaching
1-1 player rule related coaching sessions: These sessions are tailored to the specific needs of each player so as to help them improve performance by gaining clarity and understanding around the rules and referee interpretations. These sessions will help you to prepare for match play by informing you of the best way to interact with referees, help you to prepare your movement in line with the referee’s current line of thinking, assist in understanding common causes of interference, and inform you of any new rules referees are implementing. Previous work with some of the best players in the world has yielded noticeably improved playing performances and has solved many challenging situations faced by these individuals.
1-1 referee coaching and mentoring sessions: These sessions are designed for any aspiring referee who is looking to develop at a faster rate, wants to increase knowledge, trying to solve personal officiating challenges, is keen to practice, or aiming to progress through the officiating pathway. A WSO coach/mentor will collaborate with you and design a personal development plan based on your current level to help you to improve as a referee. Examples of development work include identifying areas of strength and areas to develop further, reviewing televised matches, preparing for matches/events, practising refereeing/marking, understanding decision-making, gaining insight into the rationale behind decisions, and working on the language to swiftly and accurately explain decisions.
